Gemini Instruments
On this page we will endeavour to keep up to date a list
of the instruments currently available on the Gemini
telescopes and any notes specific to those instruments such
as if they are in commissioning or if there has been any
maintenance issues recently.
Gemini North
0.36-1.10 μm (u'-z') long-slit and multi-slit
spectroscopy and imaging over a 5.5 arcminute field of
view.
1.0-5.4 μm (J-M) long-slit spectroscopy with resolving
powers, R~1700, 5000 and 18000 and two pixel scales
(0.15"/pix and 0.05"/pix). 0.9-2.5 μm cross-dispersed
spectroscopy with complete coverage at R~1700 and partial
coverage at R~5000.
7-26 μm imager and spectrometer.
0.95-2.40 μm (Z-K) 3D imaging (IFU) spectroscopy with
resolving power, R~5000 over a 3.0"x3.0" field of view.
Designed for use with
Gemini Altair AO system.
1-5 μm (J-M) imaging and spectroscopy with 22"x22",
51"x51" and 120"x120" field of view. Can be used with
Gemini Altair AO system.
Gemini South
Currently undergoing commissioning
0.95-2.4 μm (Z-K) imaging with a 6.1' diameter circular
field of view. Multi-object spectroscopy with resolutions
R=1200-3000 within a 2'x6' quasi-rectangular field of
view. FLAMINGOS-2 will also work with the Gemini MCAO system
to provide imaging and MOS spectroscopy within the 2' MCAO
corrected field of view.
0.36-1.10 μm (u'-z') long-slit and multi-slit
spectroscopy and imaging over a 5.5 arcminute field of
view.
1-5 μm (J-M) Near-Infrared Coronagraphic Imager with an
adaptive optics system and 18"x18" field of view.
Mid-infrared imager and long-slit spectrograph.
